Brazil holds an interest to implement the major national project – construction of the space center in equatorial area in cooperation with Ukraine. This was declared by Ambassador of Brazil to Ukraine, Mr. Antonio Fernando Cruz De Mello during the meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mr. Mykola Azarov under report of the Department of Information and Mass Media of CMU Secretariat.

Space project “Cyclone-4” is the top-priority for our bilateral collaboration, - said Ambassador and expressed a hope it would be successful. Herewith Ambassador mentioned that this issue should require wider highlighting in mass media of both Brazil and Ukraine. He also underlined the necessity to providing a series of presentations in the second half year 2010 together with Ukrainian Central Design Institute, which is the chief-designer of the construction project of the launching complex and SDO Yuzhnoye/Yuzhmash Plant (designers and manufacturers of Cyclone-4 LV) in the National Congress, Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Defense of Brazil and other interested institutions.

Also, Ambassador pointed out that Brazil is expecting the visit of the Management of Central Design Institute, SDO Yuzhnoye and Yuzhmash Plant for conducting marketing promotion of the space project.

Mr. Azarov stressed that by constructing own space center, Brazil will enter the 5 countries capable to launch space crafts from their own territory; moreover the launch from equator is cheaper by one third, accordingly Brazil shall gain advantages right away.
